Cypherpunks

What came before Bitcoin? Players tried the obvious list. Hashcash, DigiCash, Bit Gold, b-money. All projects, all wrong.

The answer is the people. Cypherpunks. The mailing list where a lot of the earlier digital cash ideas were discussed, and the mindset Bitcoin comes from, as the author put it. Same values as PGP and Tor.

The claim confirmed at 08:53:31 UTC, 56 minutes after the post. u/mooncritic posted the answer and said they almost gave up. A human, then. The author was pleased.

At the 24 minute mark the author wrote that it "survived 20 minutes", as if it were gone. "n/m...still there," a player replied. It lasted another half hour.
