A number
July 7, 2019, 7 pm Japanese time. The luckiest slot of the whole run, so block 61 pays 77 mBTC. Partly luck, partly an apology for the wrong digits in block 59. The question is A number. Format [solution] TOMI [TOMI], digits 06d, and 4b for the TOMI field alone.
"May even be solved at sight", says the author. Was it? Not even close. Three days of guessing follow.
The smallest hint ever
Hint 1: the most important number in the history of humanity. Players try pi, the golden ratio, the Big Bang. Hint 2 is a single dot. Just a dot, below the text. "That's a period", says u/martypyouknowme. Thanks.
Hint 3 points back to block 57, Hal's tweet about CO2. So the number is 350, the safe level of CO2 in parts per million. The dot was the TOMI field all along: .org, as in 350.org.
u/JDScreesh got it. The claim confirmed at 20:28:04 UTC on July 10. Their second block ever, after block 75 of the first run. "Now I can solve some money problems." Fair enough.
And u/reddeneer noticed something the author missed: 1.618, the golden ratio, has 61 right in the middle. Wrong answer, perfect fit.
