No question at all
Half an hour into May 12, the second 77 mBTC block. Why 77 again? Because of the mistake in block 77 of the first run. The author was quite sure this one couldn't break: "I don't see any way I could possibly screw this one up." Famous last words? Not this time, actually. Block 2 held.
The post has no question. Just Format: [solution]. No TOMI, no link, because the solution is "sufficiently strong as a password". People asked where the question was. "It has no question right now, which is why it is difficult." Later an update gave the MD5 prefix, 7b4.
A password manager from Wattpad
u/Quantris got it in under two hours. The claim confirmed at 02:22:37 UTC. Then came the walkthrough, and it's a good one.
The author's Wattpad story has a chapter called "Quizchain as a Password Manager". Its example master string is "BaSCifCatfAaa1i"Metamon. Run it the way the chapter says. MD5 gives 2941774a…d1d53d91. That's BIP39 entropy, and the wallet's second key is L5Z66qPmUkTAsWQywjRNHDxHrX6J1X1SQedp6V8QsbaXR7rGd6ex. That key is the solution. Hash it with MD5 again and you get the block's entropy, 7b44cc11…ad6795e1.
Why the second key? Because it's block 2. One player said they tried exactly this "in the first 30 seconds", with the first key. Ouch.
Quantris printed the final key too, so the record quotes it instead of deriving it. And "completely overkill"? That's a wink back at the Wattpad chapter.
