Pizza day
May 22, 2019. Bitcoin Pizza Day, and the first block on the author's new subreddit, r/Grycoin. The plan was simple. Make a block easy enough for humans and bots alike, and see who's faster.
The question is one word: Kraaz. The format is [Solution] TOMI [TOMI], and the TOMI field is "the relevant name for the solution". Digits b5e, c and f.
Atbash flips the alphabet. K becomes P, r becomes i, a becomes z. Kraaz is Pizza. And the relevant name? The man who paid 10,000 BTC for two pizzas, Laszlo Hanyecz.
Nine minutes
The post went up at 12:57:25 UTC. The claim confirmed at 13:06:33. "Even few minutes have not passed," one comment says.
u/mooncritic posted the string Pizza TOMI Laszlo Hanyecz and admitted the rush cost "a big fee". The chain backs that up. 7 mBTC went in, 6.36 went out, so almost 0.64 mBTC went to the miner. A fitting tip for pizza day.
The author took it as proof that humans beat scripts on easy blocks. Setting up a script takes time, hashing a pizza doesn't. The hardest part, by the author's own account, was spelling Hanyecz right.
