## Who this is

A GitHub account, `Schum-io`, with the display name Schum. It keeps a repository of every public hint for Corey Phillips' BTC puzzle. And on October 17, 2026 it opened the pull request that explained the [Genesis puzzle](https://puzzles.agntn.dev/collections/genesis).

The record also gives Schum the address that took the prize. No source ties that address to the account, so that link is the record's call. Here's the evidence it rests on.

## How it went

Eight weeks of paid questions. One address, `bc1qdu8m…`, asked two of them:

- **September 14:** was the passphrase Genesis data or the author's own word? How long, and what built the wallet?
- **September 24:** 50k sats for the two public keys, delivered encrypted.

On October 17 at 03:40 UTC that address swept all 117 outputs, 935,266 sats net. Two hours later it sent the author 10k with "Thank you for the fascinating puzzle!". Polite.

At 06:18 UTC Schum's pull request landed in floflo777's catalogue with the whole recipe. The coinbase text as hex, `Satoshi Nakamoto`, account 1231006505. And the part nobody had published: PBKDF2 at 181505 and 200913 rounds. That's the Genesis block's time and date, hiding in the one setting every search left at the default.

floflo777 merged it the same day and credits the solution to Schum-io. We reran the recipe on the block bytes. It lands on the address exactly.

## What the record says

Seven facts. Four are transactions of the payout address. Two are the pull request and floflo777's credit. One is the Corey Phillips hint repository. The recipe itself sits on the puzzle record as the announcement's `answer`.
