Eight words and a link
May 16, 7 mBTC. "Eight words." All lowercase, one space, no period, MD5 prefix b32. This one has a link again, the block 6 key L2gi9LjJwv6oRBdBAJMo3QTNmfdqLRYxbW7o1MhC5K7NNh2JqPSZ.
Why the link? To keep out "outside brute forcing", bots that try cracking lists without knowing the quizchain exists. u/silver_anth didn't buy it. "I don't think these exist." The author had an answer. Brainwallets on famous phrases get emptied fast. And then: "I know that. Which is in turn a hint for the solution..."
Correct horse battery staple
It's xkcd 936. The most famous password in the world. The twist is that it appears twice: correct horse battery staple correct horse battery staple plus the link.
u/mooncritic got it. The claim confirmed at 01:47:58 UTC on May 17, with a fat fee. The author asked: without a script? "Yes, that's right." "Glad to hear that humans beat the bots this time."
That was the whole test. The author wanted to see if the script players would catch a classic password right away. They didn't. Humans 1, bots 0. Nobody printed the key, so the record derives it.
